Take the Quiz:
Are you a “Relational Type”, or a “Tasky Type”?
Take the quiz below to find out what type you are …
Question One
At the shopping mall, you are hurrying to get to an appointment on time, and see a friend before she sees you. What do you do?
- Stop and ask how she is. Then find out what she did last weekend. You’ll be late, but who cares?
- Smile broadly and tell her it’s great to see her, but you are in a rush. Then you suggest, “How about we catch up over coffee tomorrow?”
- Quickly cross to the other side of the mall and hope she doesn’t see you. You can’t be late for that appointment!
Question Two
You catch a bus into town. There is a long line of passengers waiting behind you when you get on to buy your ticket.
- You ask the driver what sort of day she has had, and ask if her daughter is better yet. This is because you are keen to find out the news, and stop to talk for a minute or more.
- You smile and say hello to the driver as you buy your ticket. In the rush, you briefly tell her you are praying for her daughter.
- Fully conscious of the big line behind, you quickly pay for your ticket. The bus driver has a daughter?
Question Three
You have been to a concert and are leaving through the crowded main foyer. It is late, and the baby-sitter is waiting. While on your way through, you see your boss over the other side of the foyer.
- You press through the crowd to say hello, and chat for the next 15 minutes about the performance, and how her family is doing. Let the baby-sitter wait.
- You catch her eye across the crowd, and do a friendly wave from a distance, and make a mental note to have the boss over for a meal soon.
- Aware of the crush, you quickly lower your eyes, move to the door, and out to the carpark. Because the baby-sitter is waiting!
Question Four
Church is about to begin, and on your way in you see a friend whose husband has just left her.
- You lean in for the full story, and talk to her for the next 15 minutes to offer her comfort.
Church can start without you! - You squeeze her hand, stop to talk for a moment, and suggest you both chat about things after the service.
- You smile at her, and rush inside. It’s important not to stop now because the music is starting, and you don’t want to be late.
Question Five
You are getting through writing an urgent email, but it is time you stopped and made dinner so you can go out later. Your son arrives home. What do you do?
- Stop writing and talk to your son about his day. The email can wait a moment. If you start dinner late that’s okay. You end up running 30 minutes late.
- You stop to chat to your son. Then you save the email as a draft, and send an SMS to the email recipient, saying you will be in touch tomorrow. You end up running a few minutes late but that’s okay.
- Ignoring your son’s arrival home, you finish the email and make dinner. You leave for your outing on time, but realise on your way out that you have no idea what sort of day your son had.
